How to get there: ( June 21, 2011 )

By Train
Due to Engineering works taking place on Sunday 12 June there is no service between Blackheath and Dartford. A replacement bus service will be operating. From Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street, changing at London Bridge if necessary, take the Bexleyheath Line to Eltham station (zone 4), which is a 20 to 30 minute journey. Exit the station through the bus station and turn right onto Well Hall Road. Take the first major left turn onto Kidbrooke Lane and the ground is on your left. This is less than a 10 minute walk.

By Car
The entrance to Kidbrooke Lane from Well Hall Road is blocked off so the ground needs to be accessed from Westhorne Avenue.
Exit from the A102/A2 at the Westhorne Avenue interchange and head North. Move immediately into the outside lane and take the first right, through the gap in the dual carriageway, into Kidbrooke Lane. There is ample parking in the ground.

By Bus
The following buses terminate at Eltham Station:-
132 from Bexleyheath Clock Tower, via Bexley Station and Blackfen
162 from Beckenham Junction Station, via Bromley South Station, Chislehurst Station and New Eltham Station
233 from Swanley, via Sidcup and New Eltham Station
314 from New Addington, via Hayes Station, Bromley South Station, Sundridge Park Station, Elmstead Woods Station, New Eltham Station
B15, circular route from Eltham Station including Avery Hill, Welling Station and Bexleyheath Station

The Following buses stop in Well Hall Road:-
161 North Greenwich Station to Chislehurst via, Charlton Station, Woolwich Arsenal Station, Queen Elisabeth Hospital, Well Hall Road/Kidbrooke Lane, Royal Blackheath Golf Club, Mottingham Station, Chislehurst War Memorial
286 Greenwich Cutty Sark to Sidcup Queen Mary's Hospital via, Trafalgar Road, Westcombe Park Station, Blackheath Royal Standard, Kidbrooke Park, Well Hall Road/Kidbrooke Lane, Eltham High Street, Avery Hill, Sidcup Station
The 122 bus (Crystal Palace to Plumstead) also passes the ground along Westhorne Avenue. It also serves Sydenham, Forest Hill, Lewisham and Woolwich. If you are coming from the Crystal Palace direction, the ground is on the right immediately after the flyover/railway bridge - in the other direction it is on the left just before them.

Olympians appoint Scott Rowe as defensive co-ordinator

Scott Rowe - London Olympians defensive coordinatorThe London Olympians are pleased to announce that Coach Scott Rowe has joined the club as Defensive Co-ordinator.

Coach Rowe joins after spending last season with the London Cobras as DB Coach and Special Teams co-ordinator. Prior to that he had two successful years at the Kent Exiles - serving as Defensive co-ordinator in 2008 before becoming Head Coach in 2009where he produced one of Division One's top defenses, taking the 7-3 Exiles to the division 1 playoffs that year. Rowe started his coaching career at the London Olympians in 2006 & 2007 and worked primarily with Defensive Backs and Special Teams. He has experience coaching within the GB Lions program and is currently the Special Teams Co-ordinator with the GB Lions Youth Squad.

Following a superb playing career, Rowe was voted the greatest UK born defensive back by voters of Britballnow.com.. He enjoyed an eighteen year period as a defensive back and kick returner. As a youth player, he starred for the Kent Rams Juniors, London Olympians, and the GB Crusaders before graduating to the senior ranks at the Olympians.

Rowe played two years at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, going on to win numerous British Championship titles and was a key member of the dominant London Olympians Eurobowl winning teams of 1993 & 1994. Rowe then had a number of seasons playing professionally in Europe with the Madrid Panteras (Spain), Hanau Hawks (Germany) and Stuttgart Scorpions (Germany). He also played, and was a team captain, for the GB Lions from 1995 to 2005.

In 1998, Rowe returned to the London Olympians and became a key factor in the numerous championships claimed by the Olympians until his retirement at the end of the 2005 season. He then made the transition to coaching.

Commenting on his appointment, Rowe said "It was a very tough decision to leave behind a great group of players and coaches at the Cobras, but the opportunity to be the DC at the Olympians was a very strong draw, given my long history and association with the club. I'm excited about the upcoming season, and hope to play my part in helping this group of talented young players reach their potential"

Olympians home grounds at Crystal Palace

Having been promoted to Division 1, after winning the Division 2 national title, the London Olympians commenced their pre season training for 2011 on Sunday 16 January. Sunday training schedules start at 10:45am prompt at their home grounds, Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium. Both senior and junior players are welcome to join, including those who are interested in trying out this sport.

Training on Sundays at 10:30am prompt. Juniors 14-16yrs : Youth 15 - 19yrs : Seniors : 18+ yrs.
